The Financial Times reports on fresh pressure on the UK from families of those detained to repatriate British nationals detained in camps in north east Syria.
A group called Bring British Families Home has written to Foreign Office minister Lord Tariq Ahmad to urge the government to step up efforts to bring their relatives home and ‘not abandon’ them.
This comes after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last month said that it was ‘critical’ that countries repatriated people from camps in Syria.
Katherine Cornett, Reprieve’s head of the Syria and Iraq detention project, said it was “shameful that the [UK] government is seeking to wash its hands” of British citizens in the detention camps.
