Jaipreet Kaur
Jaipreet is Reprieve’s South East Asia Caseworker, and provides legal, advocacy and research assistance in death penalty cases across the region. She supports clients in vulnerable situations, including victims of trafficking, migrant workers, those with complex mental health needs, individuals with intellectual disabilities and individuals facing racial discrimination.
Jaipreet is an unregistered barrister with an expertise in international human rights law. Prior to joining Reprieve, she worked in refugee law and statelessness at the Kuala Lumpur and Geneva offices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as at South East Asian civil society organisations. She has undertaken legal casework for refugees in Malaysia, including survivors/victims of torture and unaccompanied children. In Geneva, her work focused on drafting UNHCR’s Guidelines on loss and deprivation of nationality.
