A Guardian exclusive reveals how British women and their children detained in North East Syria’s camp Roj are malnourished and do not have access to adequate healthcare to the point that they fear death if they are not brought home soon.
“I’m going to die here if they don’t get me out soon,” one of the women wrote in a message from the camp. “I really, really want to go back and be with you guys. I really need hospital care.”
The Guardian reports that the women’s testimony will renew pressure on the UK government to repatriate dozens of Britons, as the US and most European countries including France and Spain have.
