The family of a British father detained in Saudi Arabia says they believe he has been sentenced to ten years in prison over a now deleted 2018 tweet about Sudan.
Ahmed has been subjected to constant fair trial and due process violations.
The UK Government “should stand firmly against a British national’s imprisonment for allegedly exercising his free speech rights,” said Ahmed’s international counsel Haydee Dijkstal.
The FCDO has been criticised for a lack of action since Ahmed was arrested at the end of August last year.
Ahmed’s wife Amaher Nour said: “I rarely speak to my husband, but in the few snatched conversations we have managed, it’s clear that Ahmed is struggling.”
