Why make a will?
If you make a will, your money and possessions will go to the people and causes you care about when you die.
Leaving a gift in your will is a great opportunity to make a difference after your lifetime. It is also highly tax efficient as your donation will be 100% free from inheritance tax.
By leaving a gift to Reprieve, you will help people facing the most extreme human rights abuses and miscarriages of justice for years to come.
There are three types of gift you can leave:
- a share of your estate (a residuary gift)
- a fixed amount of money (a pecuniary gift)
- a particular item (a specific gift)
Making a will
You can write your own legally binding will. A solicitor can also help you with wording and other services.

Adding Reprieve to your will.
If you already have a will but would like to add a gift to Reprieve, you can amend your existing will with a codicil. Please ask your solicitor about this or use this form to request a codicil from Reprieve.
