The executions of Black death row inmates have been botched more than twice as often as executions of white prisoners, a groundbreaking report by Reprieve has found.
“We know that there is racism in the criminal justice system,” Maya Foa told the New York Times in an exclusive which coincided with the launch of the report.
“We know it’s there in the capital punishment system, from who gets arrested, who gets sentenced, all of it. This is, though, the first time that it’s been looked at in the context of the execution itself.”
