He was badly tortured. His death sentence was handed down in a sham trial. He was told explicitly that he was being punished as a traitor for attending pro-democracy demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reprieve.bsd.net\/page\/s\/free-mohammed-ramadan\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8245\" src=\"http:\/\/www.reprieve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/mohamed-kids-e1475160790736.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reprieve.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/09\/mohamed-kids-e1475160790736.jpg 915w, https:\/\/reprieve.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/09\/mohamed-kids-e1475160790736-768x617.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The UK government has provided 5 million pounds over 4 years to the system that made these executions possible \u2013 training police officers, prosecutors, and even the death row guards. In Mohammed\u2019s case, Bahrain\u2019s UK-trained torture investigator refused to investigate his torture allegations for two whole years. During that period, he was sentenced to death in a trial that relied on torture confessions.<\/p>\n<h2>The close ties between Britain and Bahrain mean that action from our government is vital if we\u2019re going to save Mohammed&#8217;s life and prevent further executions.<\/h2>\n<p>The UK government has already been urged to act, but they have so far refused to speak out against Mohammed\u2019s death sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Stop Bahrain executing its political opponents \u2013\u00a0call on the UK Government to end its assistance to Bahrain\u2019s death penalty system and take steps to prevent Mohammed&#8217;s execution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mohammed could be executed because he stood up for things we all care about \u2013 democracy and human rights.
