Security experts and the Kurdish administration themselves have long warned that the detention camps in north-east Syria could collapse. Successive US governments have said the only solution is for countries to repatriate their nationals, and since the fall of Assad, the regional security situation is more volatile than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Humanitarian groups are also worried about the effect on women and children unlawfully detained in North East Syria if US aid cuts take effect, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/feb\/09\/kurdish-officials-fear-islamic-state-revival-as-us-aid-cuts-loom-syria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even without the cessation of Blumont&#8217;s services, women and <a href=\"https:\/\/reprieve.org\/uk\/2024\/04\/10\/what-happened-to-the-children-taken-to-north-east-syria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">children<\/a> already live in <a href=\"https:\/\/reprieve.org\/uk\/2024\/01\/29\/british-mothers-fear-they-and-their-kids-will-die-in-syrias-camp-roj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">horrendous conditions<\/a>.
