Authorities says she murdered a local fisherman. Ghati says his death was an accident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 15 years, Ghati has been detained in Butimba Central Prison where conditions are extremely poor. She does not have regular access to medication and is occasionally suicidal, <a href=\"https:\/\/thechanzo.com\/2024\/04\/25\/a-sad-story-of-ghati-mwita-an-elderly-woman-who-has-spent-15-years-in-prison-without-evidence\/\">reports<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thechanzo.com\/2024\/04\/25\/a-sad-story-of-ghati-mwita-an-elderly-woman-who-has-spent-15-years-in-prison-without-evidence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thechanzo.com\/2024\/04\/25\/a-sad-story-of-ghati-mwita-an-elderly-woman-who-has-spent-15-years-in-prison-without-evidence\/\">Chanzo. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghati has applied for a presidential pardon four times and has not been granted one and has even taken her case to the African court.
