The 2022 report from the Investigatory Powers Commissioner’s Office reveals that the number of requests to share information despite a real risk of torture doubled year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dan Dolan, Reprieve\u2019s director of policy and advocacy, said: \u201cThese ministerial referrals represent real people at risk of being tortured \u2013 something our government professes to find abhorrent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen the number of requests is doubling, and officials have admitted 95% get signed off, it\u2019s clear the system is broken. The Fulford principles are not fit for purpose and it\u2019s good to see MPs calling for their reform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
