On the sixth anniversary of Jagtar Singh Johal’s detention, three senior lawyers have asked Foreign Office minister Lord Ahmad<\/a> to retract his comments stating that the Sikh human rights activist will receive a fair trial, reports The Guardian<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017 Jagtar <\/a>was bundled into a car by plain clothes officers and tortured, according to Reprieve, which says UK intelligence services appear to have given a tip-off to Indian authorities, which they acted upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a letter to Lord Ahmad, Ken MacDonald KC, Elish Angiolini KC, and Jim Wallace KC wrote: “There is no possibility of due process in Jagtar’s case, which is based around a so-called confession obtained under days of brutal torture.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
