Stop Illegal And Lethal Drones In the news Faisal bin Ali Jaber

Germany could have delivered justice for civilian drone strike victims. It failed.

On November 25, 2020, a German court ruled against Yemeni engineer Faisal Bin Ali Jaber, as he continues to seek justice for his relatives, killed by a missile fired from a US drone eight years ago.

The drone strike relied on radio and signals assistance from Ramstein airbase, and in 2019 a lower court in Germany ruled that Ramstein’s “central role” in missile attacks that “regularly cause civilian casualties” in Yemen, the German government had a duty to ensure that the US drone programme complies with international law, and to protect the lives of those targeted.

Now, even that shred of accountability has been taken away, as Faisal writes in this op-ed for Foreign Policy. You can read it here.
